The Fucket List: A Two-Month Progress Report

The Fucket List: A Quick Recap

It’s been two months since I quietly kicked off my Fucket List journey, and I figured it’s high time for an update. For those who are new here, the Fucket List is essentially a bucket list with a deadline—5 years to be exact. The goal is to complete 100 things by July 30, 2028. While I haven’t yet listed all 100 items, the beauty of this list is its flexibility; it will evolve as I do, allowing me to add new challenges as life unfolds. For the full list as it currently stands, see here

Highlights and Aspirations

The list is a mix of grand endeavors and smaller, achievable tasks. Some of the highlights that I’m particularly excited about include doing an Ironman and climbing to base camp of Everest. These are not just items to tick off; they’re milestones that require dedicated training and preparation. But not all challenges are Herculean tasks. Some, like learning to to do some basic latte art, are smaller events or skills that I can pick up relatively quickly (I hope).

Progress So Far

The 75 Hard Challenge

Since the Fucket List’s inception on July 30, 2023, the 75 Hard Challenge has been my primary focus. With less than two weeks left, I’m on the home stretch. With the requirements for 2 workouts a day, strict diet, reading, water intake and photo taking up so much time, this program has become a cornerstone of my life for the last couple of months. For a full breakdown of my 75 hard journey, see here

Website Launch

Another item ticked off the list is the launch of this website. While it remains a work in progress, having a dedicated space to document my journey is a win in my book. Expect this platform to evolve over the next five years as I continue to share updates, insights, and lessons learned.

Weight Loss

The 75 Hard Challenge has had a ripple effect on my overall fitness. I’ve naturally lost weight, dropping nearly 13kg and currently weighing in at 86kg (down from 99kg). While I’m not quite at my goal of 85kg, I’m optimistic about reaching it in the next few weeks.

The 100km Bike Ride

Another box ticked off the list is the completion of a 100km bike ride. This was a test of endurance and a great way to push my physical limits. I wrote a quick blog post about this experience here

30 Days of Yoga

In addition to the 75 Hard Challenge, I’ve also embarked on a 30-day yoga challenge. It’s a different kind of physical and mental exercise. I am only 3 days into this challenge and am already finding it challenging.

Coldtober Challenge

Last but not least, I am on my 2nd day of the Coldtober Challenge. It’s a month-long commitment to embracing the cold in the name of a good cause. Learn more about my reasoning and experience here.

The Van Life and Road Trip: A Work in Progress

While I haven’t technically completed (or started) my one-year van life or three-month road trip fucket list goals, the van conversion is underway. This is a significant step toward making these dreams a reality. Stay tuned for updates as I continue to work on the van and plan for these exciting adventures.

What’s Next?

In two weeks, upon completing the 75 Hard Challenge (fingers crossed), I plan to take a day or two to regroup. It will be a moment to reflect on what I’ve achieved and to strategize on which Fucket List item to tackle next.

So, there you have it—a snapshot of my journey so far. The wheels are in motion, and I’m excited about what the future holds. Stay tuned for more updates as I continue to navigate this five-year adventure.
